This light-bodied red wine grape variety is grown almost exclusively in the Veneto region. As a minor blending partner, it adds acidity to the wines of the Valpolicella and Bardolino regions, which are made with Corvina, Corvinone and/or Rondinella.
Molinara is a very old Italian word, meaning ‘flour mill’. The name refers to the powdery yeasts, which cover the skin of the grapes as if they were coated in flour.
